I've had 2 c/s and my abs are wrecked. I have about 10 lbs to go to get back to my baby weight but I've plateaued. I've ran a half-marathon, tried other workout activities but nothing seems to be working. I'm thinking I need something new. Has anyone had any luck with pilates? Had it made a difference in trimming down your abs?
Thanks!
Re: c-section abs -- pilates?
Pilates are good.
My suggestion is to rebuild from the inside to the outside. Traditional crunches can cause the abs to build out, creating a bloated look. Start with the transverse abdominus - the deepest layer of abdominals - and strengthen from there.
Planks are good for the transverse abominals. Pilates also includes core stabilizing exercises that will help with the TVA muscles.

A lot of traditional ab routines don't focus enough on the lower abs. Pilates will definitely help with that. There is also a great DVD called Restore the Core that was made by a mom who's had 2 c/s and is a fitness expert. She used to be CEO of StrollerFit before it was bought by Baby Boot Camp. It's a Pilates-based program specifically for postnatal. I love this DVD for helping with the lower pooch area.
Restore the Core is on ebay and buybuybaby.com (or it was anyway).
