I am interested in buying a carrier for my LO. I would like to be able to do things around the house, but still have her close by. She is weighing in at about 5 lbs. Do any of you ladies have any recommendations? I will be asking the pedi's advice tomorrow as well!
Re: Recommend your baby carrier
I used a Baby Bjorn for the first couple months after my son came home from the NICU. As he got heavier, it was clear that the Bjorn wasn't going to cut it. So I rented the Ergo, Beco Butterfly II, and Beco Gemini. The Ergo didn't feel comfortable and my son hated it, so that was out. I thought I would like the Butterfly because of the easy back carry and was concerned that the Gemini had a lower weight limit. But turns out the Gemini was the most comfortable to wear and my son loved the extra supportive structure that it offered. I don't know if all preemies are this way, but even at 8 months old my son still loves the support the Gemini gives him.
Good luck!
I liked the Maya Ring Sling when he was little, but I worried about his neck touching his chest (cutting off his earway). I liked carrying him on my hip when he was bigger but then he got too heavy soon after that and it hurt my back to carry him on his shoulder.
We have a Jeep carrier that is OK>
I finally caved and bought an expensive carrier. I LOVE my Beco Butterfly 2. I could carry him at 20 lbs and it didn't hurt my back at all. Also great for infants.
