Tell me about your swing

I recently received a swing as a gift. I did not register for one because frankly, I have no room for one. Now I'm trying to decide if I should return it or find room for it. So, if you have a swing, do you use it? When/how? Is it worth making my living room even more cluttered?

Re: Tell me about your swing

  • At first is was the ONLY thing Paige would sleep in. Now she will nap in it occasionally but when she's awake and I have laundry, dishes or need to pump she will swing away.

Also lately she's fighting going back down after her 4/5am feeding. I'll put her in the swing with the music and she will start to get drowsy after a while.

  • DS spends about 10 minutes in his swing before he starts fussing...it's handy for bathroom breaks or getting a bite to eat for me, but he doesn't love it yet. I think once he gets a little older he'll start spending more time in it since he's not quite 3 weeks old yet.

  • I have the Graco Swing 'N Bounce 2-in-1 Infant Swing and Rocco and I LOVE it.  It is a swing and a bouncy seat all in one.  It's nice b/c I can use the swing when I want or if I can detach the seat and use it for him to chill in and the swing part folds up and we can place it out of the way if needed.
  • I have a travel swing because I think the full size ones take up way too much room and do basically the same thing. So far, DD doesn't really care for it, although the daycare told me she slept in theirs today. Hmmm.... if it's any help, my DD#1 loved it and it was one of the only secure places I could put her while I showered or whatever.

  • We have a swing, our little guy isn't too crazy about it (I keep hoping he'll change his mind though).  I use it mainly for naps during the day.  It has a white noise feature which he likes and helps keep him down a little longer than if I just lie him in his bassinet. Plus it does have a slight incline since he's prone to spitting up and not burping too well.  We keep ours in the corner of our very small living room and it has plenty of room to swing both ways without being too obnoxious or interfering with our space.
