Hi,
I am new here and have been on complete bedrest with just bathroom privleges for almost 5 weeks. I have complete placenta previa at 31+ weeks with 2 bleeds already. Doctor says if I have another bleed I have to be on hospital bedrest for the duration. Anyone have experience with Previa? I am really pretty scared that I could start hemorraging at any time. I am not sleeping a whole lot. A couple hours in the AM and a couple of hours during the night. Thank God for my laptop to use otherwise I would be going crazy. I feel so darn frustrated that i cannot get up and do anything but I know that its whats best for my little one. My first bleed was at 26-27 weeks and been on bedrest ever since....going on 5 weeks now with another 6 to go at least. Any experiences with Placenta Previa would be helpful as well as what to expect with a C-Section....I am really nervous about that too. I had my other 5 boys natural. Thanks for taking the time to listen and I am enjoying reading alot of your previous posts.

Re: Newbie with Placenta Previa...home bedrest
No placenta previa here.
But hugs for being on bed rest with five boys!!!!
I had complete previa with my DS. I was waiting and worried for most of my pregnancy for a bleed to happen. Luckily for me (and against the odds) I never had any major bleeds (just lots of spotting) and never ended up on bedrest. By my 35 wks u/s, my placenta moved enough (well, actually the lower segment of my uterus grew enough) that I was no longer even considered to have a previa. So all that worry and stress and everything turned out okay. There is a placenta previa board on Babycenter that I found to be very helpful...at least there were others over there in the same boat or who had gone through it and told their stories. If you haven't been there, I recommend checking it out.
And about the c/s, try not to worry. I had a c/s with my DD because she was breach so I ended up just having another one with my DS. It really is not that bad. The recovery is a little tough the first few days but they give you decent pain meds and it isn't so bad. Good luck and if it is any condolence, having bleeds indicates that your placenta is moving...so maybe you will get lucky and it will move clear of the cervix in time for delivery and you won't even have to worry about a c/s.
I had a partial placenta previa with DD2. It was only partial by 1mm. My previa never moved at all. I had a small bleed at 30 weeks and then a very large hemorrhage the morning that DD2 was born at 33w4d. I had an emergency c-section and we were all okay. DD spent 11 days in the NICU (she received one dose of surfactant for her lungs and spent 5 days on and off cpap).
I hope that your previa resolves and if it doesn't that you make it to your scheduled c-section date without issues.
