Sub-Q Injection sites?

My nurse told me to use use my stomach for my sub-q injection site.  The menopur video says you can use the stomach, legs or back of your arm for sub-q injection sites.  Does it make any difference?  I've been using my stomach this whole time but I seriously need to give it a break  with all the bruises and looking like  a pin cushion.  Do you think the leg injection is any less effective?

Re: Sub-Q Injection sites?

  • The med is just as effective wherever you inject it!  I didn't do the leg often because I felt like it was more muscle there than sub-q... but I did the back (love handle area) a lot!  It hurts less there :)  I am with you though, my belly is so bruised!  Rotate girl!!

  • It's just doctor preference because sometimes they find their patients respond better when they use a certain site. My first cycle I did thighs (and that was the best response though I think it's coincidence). After that, the doc had me switch to arms. If you're bruising in the belly and need a break, it won't hurt to do the thighs or arms for a while. You can alternate if you're worried.
  • I was told I could do them in the stomach or leg.  I always do mine in the stomach though.  I just usually alternate sides.
