After waiting for 30 minutes for my appointment....GRRRR normally they got us back before our appointment time.
I found out that my AMH level was .5 so this is also an indicator that I have low ovarian reserve. We will be doing another IUI and then looking to move on to IVF.
The doctor wants me to have some more blood tests done. I am looking into seeing if they would be covered or not. The RE thinks that I might have an antibody that is attacking my eggs which might be one of the resasons that I have a low reserve. The other thing that he is wanting to test for is Fragile X syndrome (FXS). This is the test that I am worried about because my DH really wants to know the answer to this test and I am doubting that it will be covered. I really hope and pray that it will be covered.
We were supposed to meet with the IVF coordinator, but after waiting 30 minutes we finally had to leave so that we could get to work. I called and set up an appointment with her before my appointment on the 12th so hopefully we can figure out everything then.
I also called another RE in Pittsburgh to see about transfering there. They are open over the weekend and also offer financing options. I am going to wait and see what the IVF coordinator has to say on the 12th, but then we might be moving practices. I do not look forward to a 3 hour drive, but we are already driving an hour and at this point we have to do where we can afford to have the proceedure done.
Possibly the worst news of all is th fact that none of my medications will be covered. I signed up for the insurance through my work because I knew even though they did not offer IUI or IVF coverage that the pharamacy coverage looked good. I called back during my open enrollment to see about what they covered....Oh we cannot talk about coverage until you are a member, but you can look at the formulary and speciality drug list and see what is covered. Well, low and behold the only drugs that are not covered are fertility drugs. I called yesterday to confirm my co-pay and when the woman said $595. My mouth just dropped, I was expecting her to say $125. Come to find out that my plan does not cover any fertility meds.....GRRRRRRR I only got this insurance to cover these meds because the rest of it is crap.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I just hope that today is a better day than yesterday.

I hope your insurance covers some of the tests. Its really stupid when they won't cover tests that help you figure out why you can't get or stay pregnant. Ugh, I hate insurance. Also the meds situation suck. I can't believe they wouldn't tell you before you signed up what was covered. That's awful.
GL with the IUI and i hope you get to do the IVF consult soon. Hopefully they will have some ways for you to be able to do it (semi)locally. Of course, I'm just hoping the IUI works for you!

I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards no. Dh would like me too, but I don't think it will change anything for us, it will just be more information.

i'm sorry about your AMH level. (i'm still waiting on my results but i have a feeling mine won't be good either.)
Insurance just sucks. i'm really afraid of the cost of everything. i'm going to make a call soon to ask some questions myself. hopefully some more testing is covered. maybe the other RE has a better payment plan. GL!
DH wants me to have the fragile X test because it can mean a lot of bad things if I were to have a son.

And yet some 80 year old dude's Viagra is covered, no doubt.
I'm sorry to hear about your medications not being covered. That sucks. I'm astounded at the cost of those.

I get that, and that's one reason we're considering it, but for us I'm not sure it will matter because we won't be doing IVF, so it wouldn't change how we do anything, except it might make us stop ttc altogether.

I'm so sorry about the insurance crap. I had the Fragile X test and a bunch of others and my insurance did cover everything. I hope the IUI works for you and you can skip the whole IVF process.
Insurance sucks donkey balls. Why should we have to pay through the nose for the priviledge of having children? Isn't that the God-given right of humans?
::Stepping off soapbox:: I hope that the finale of all of this is a beautiful baby (or two) in your arms.
I'm sorry about the long wait and insurance issues. It's so frustrating.
I did the fragile x testing and the result was a moderate repeat - we met with the genetic counselor extensively to learn what that meant (for us, nothing, but our child might have implications). I hope your result is normal and that insurance covers the testing.
Good luck with the consult and I hope you don't need to go to the RE further away.
Insurance companies are such assholes. Big, hairy, stinky assholes. I hate them.
I hope the RE visits are helpful.

I really hope that you are able to have the b/w covered - at least that will be one less worry. I am sorry about the insurance coverage - that really sucks. I have coverage, so I don't know a lot about OOP meds, but maybe the girls on TTTC or IF would be able to give you some suggestions.
If you don't mind my asking, which RE are you looking at in Pittsburgh? Since I live there my RE is there and there are several, but I just wondered who you called. You can PM me if you want. I really like mine and they are open almost every day of the year except 2 I think - Christmas and maybe Thanksgiving. I really like them.
I hope this next IUI works and you don't have to worry about IVF and all the meds. Good luck!!
Ugh, ain't that the truth?
I'm so sorry about the insurance situation. That's ridiculous. I would also be complaining to HR.
