Infertility

from bad to worse :(

So I have CIN II/III cells and have to have a LEEP procedure. I'm told this most likely will push back my IVF cycle :(

I'm so worried -- I've heard this procedure can actually lead to infertility b/c they have to remove part of the cervix. I have SO MANY problems...I just really can't fathom my situation ever working with another one.

And, I was mistaken. My Humira will cost $2,000...not $1,400. I literally don't think I can do this. I can't take all of the awful news...the financial mountain...etc.

My mom had an abnormal pap at age 25 (after 4 kids) and had to have a hysterectomy. She so eloquently informed me today that "I can't have babies without a cervix".

?

Has anyone gone through anything like this??

  • I'm so sorry you're going through this. My sister's best friend had the LEEP procedure and she got pregnant 4-5 months later. Everything was fine with the baby, it was full term and everything. My SIL just had this done in November and she is TTC again. Her dr. said that everything looked good and that she shouldn't have any problems TTC or keeping the baby.

  • I hope you don't mind me chiming in. The leep will not affect you getting pg. I have had a few of them. The only thing they worry about is with possible scarring from the procedure, is carrying to full term and problems dilating during labor. Other than that they haven't found any connection with it preventing you from getting pg.

  • I have had one and a cryosurgery. With IVF it won't make a difference on your chances of getting pregnant (or even with IUI because they by pass your cervix.)   They will just watch your cervix a little closer when you get pregnant.  Even with having twins my MFM doesn't seem too concerned about the previous procedures.

I am sorry it might delay your IVF cycle though that is really frustrating.  I know when I had my last one they wanted to wait a little while before my IUI because they wanted my cervix to have some time heal before possibly getting pregnant.

Your mom is freaking you out for no reason.  They didn't used to know how to deal with it so they would do hysterectomy and especially would just jump to that if she already had 4 kids.  There is so much they can do now and though it seems scary they take very little of your cervix off.

I am just so sorry you keep facing obstacles.  I would still love to get together but I understand if you don't want to now.  I know another lady from the support group and she is starting IVF with Dr. Z this month and is having to do humara.  I could put you in contact with her if you want to see how her process goes.  She is super sweet.

I am thinking of you.  ((hugs))

Thanks for the info. All of the obstacles are just killing me...makes me feel like it is not meant to be. You and Leagaleagle are both so sweet; I've just been having a really hard time lately...and all of the NorCal girls seemed to have gotten KU around the same time....and mine did not work out. I hate feeling like that, but it just kind of stings seeing all of your tickers....with the 'shoulda-woulda-coulda' in my situation. I hope that is not flameworthy :( I think about you all often....and send positive thoughts your way. I've just been too much of an emotional mess lately.

I totally understand.  It is hard when you are in the depths of it.  I hope like me, your first IVF does the trick but it is super overwhelming, especially with Dr.Z because he is so intense with his testing.  I know it seems like we escaped but I did have to make it through the tough IVF process to get there.  I know he is going to help get you there too.

I will give you some space, I def. don't want to upset you more.  I know there hasn't been any RESOLVE meetings lately with the holidays but I hope those help you and like I said, I am happy to put you in touch with someone who is just starting IVF with Dr. Z too.
