Could you help me pick a spelling for our soon to be DD.
love the name Elliott. I used to hate it. A friend of a friend named her daught that and I never liked it...but then I saw it on the TV show "Quints by Surprise" and I grew to really like the name. I have never seen Scrubs before. So we didn't get the idea from that.
I Know a ton of people aren't going to like it. And I couldn't care less. I was just curious about spelling. I prefer the more traditional spelling but my husband prefers the more feminine spelling Elliette.
thanks for your help ladies.

I agree with the PP - stick with the traditional spelling
Elliette (or whatever) is awful and will be a PITA for the rest of her life. It doesn't look more feminine, it just looks like you can't spell.
NO way! I totally disagree. I love the spelling Elliette. I think it does look more feminine and anyone who thinks you just can't spell must not be very creative or they are just closed minded. I voted for it and I think it looks very cute and unique for a girl.
Plus, I grew up with an unusual name spelled in a very unusual way and I have always received TONS of compliments on it. It get's a little tiring spelling out M-I-K-H-A-I-L-A to every person I meet but I really don't care and it is well worth it to have a beautiful name and to not be just another Ashley, Jessica or Mary.
I like the name Elliott for a boy or a girl (it was actually my top MN choice for a girl before we became team blue), but I prefer the traditional spelling. I think Elliette just looks like you're trying too hard to make it into a girly name. If either of you is uncomfortable with the name (in its traditional spelling) being a bit androgynous, maybe a different name choice would be better for you?
Good luck!
And I think it makes the parents look illiterate. To each their own.
Do you think my name makes my parents look illiterate? My name is Mikhaila.
My Mother was the letters editor for Mothering Magazine for more than half my life. She has also written 2 books published by a major publishing house and has been the editor of countless others.
Yes, I do. Kudos to your mother but I think unique spellings have gotten out of control and look ridiculous. It's nothing personal, JMO.
