for the newborn stage i currently have 48 preemie prefolds. the weight is 4-10 lbs. I also have three snappies. I plan to buy 3-4 thirsties covers for the prefolds
for larger sizes i bought 10 Bumgenius and plan to buy about 18 fuzzibunz. These are both the one size diapers.
Anything I'm not thinking of??? TIA
Re: critique my stash
The only thing I can think of is wondering if you've made sure that BG and/or FB work for your baby. I thought I'd love FB but I have never once used them and not had them leak -- so before i invested in awhole stash, I'd make sure I knew what I was doing.
Also: what is your night time diaper solution?

And I agree with everyone about buying some many BGs and FBs so early. This is my first and I bought one of each to try out. And I'm glad I did cause if I would have stocked up on BGs I wouldn't be so happy. But now 4 months in I'm stocking up on FBs.
I'm still in the NB stage and the preemie prefolds are used as doublers for me. There's no way that the thin, preemie prefold would absorb enough to keep my son in the same diaper for an hour. I started with GreenMountain's orange prefolds and added the preemie's to stretch out the absorbancy. I use about 3 covers per day- I tend to rotate out between two covers every other changing but NB poop is super runny. I've never had it leak out the sides with my Thirsties cover and but it has gotten on the gusset parts of the cover.
My main stash is two dozen NB prefolds and 8 Thirsties covers. I do diaper laundry every other day.
DS is 6 weeks old this week and has just hit 11 lbs. He just started to wear the BGs 3.0s I got him and I love them so far. Prefolds are still going to be my main stash though.
I recommend that you get more prefolds in the next higher size and add at least 4-5 more covers.
The inserts from the BG or FB? I wouldn't. The fabric wouldn't do very good next to the babies skin.
It's not that the preemie size wouldn't work just that they are paper thin. If you get some fleece liners or hemp then that might work, but instead of by doublers (which would cost more) I would just get 24 newborn prefolds. That, and if your baby is long or has a bigger rise they will fit much better.

I'm a first time mom and when I was investing in CDs I bought one of all the pockets I wanted to try. And once DS was born I was actually glad I did this cause there was some that I didn't like and some that I did. So now that I know what I love I'm building my stash.
