IUI % chances?

What did your RE tell you about % chance to get pregnant by IUI? Ours today just said it is about 20-25% each cycle, and many people need 3-4 cycles. Is that what others have been told?

Q: What is the success rate for IUI?

A: Searching through about a dozen medical journal articles and a number of web sites resulted in a rather wide range of statistics. Basically the odds of success are reported to be just under 6 percent and as high as 26 percent per cycle. The low statistics are with one follicle, while multiple follicles resulted in as high 26 percent success. Another influencing factor is sperm count. Higher sperm counts increase the odds of success; however, there was little difference between success with good-average counts and those with high counts. The overall success rate seems to be between 15-20 percent per cycle, judging from the articles which will be abstracted below. The rate of multiple gestation pregnancies is 23-30 percent.

Honestly, it depends on a number of factors. 2 of which are your diagnosis and also how aggressive/conservative the clinic is.

 For my Dx, I was told I had a 6% chance for clomid+IUI. When I asked about injectables, I was told that since they are extremely conservative, it would be the same 6% chance. Because of that, I opted for only clomid IUI vs. injecatble IUIs due to the cost factor.

Since we go to the same RE, I was told the same thing. ha! How did your appt go today? Your chances increase depending on the meds you are on too. The RE told me that if you move to injectibles it increases your chance because you produce more follicles.

My RE never gave us odds.  I have searched the internet so many times looking for the answer and there really isn't one.  It really seems to depends on your diagnosis, timing and how many follicles you produce.

My RE's office says 15-20% per cycle. I got a BFN on my first three cycles, which were unmedicated, and a BFP on my first clomid cycle with two follies (unfortunately chemical).

For us, my RE said 25% w/ Clomid and IUI.
