Ugh, a little frustrated re O/trigger - CD17 update

Sorry to update so much.  But could I get your feedback on this?

My follies are at 17 and 21.5.  Lining at 7.8mm.  I thought they would trigger me today but he said he wanted to wait another day to allow just a bit more time for the 17 to get closer to 20 and to hopefully get my lining a bit thicker (ideally they like 8 to 12 lining).  Mature to my RE is follies that are 20-25mm.  Last cycle I hadn't O'd yet with a follie at 24.5 and on the day of IUI I had a 25.5.  

I asked what would happen if I surged on my own today, or even O'd today.  He didn't seem concerned and if I heard him right, he said that if tomorrow's u/s showed that I've O'd, we'd do the IUI tomorrow (we have a frozen sample just in case), then they'd trigger me to get the other follicle to release, and do another IUI the day after.

Has anyone heard of this before?  wdyt?

I did test about 30min ago, and the test line is dark, but not nearly as dark as the control line.  That's a negative, right?  I'll test again this afternoon.

I do trust him, but I get anxious!  

I think I'll be at the RE's office 5 or 6 days this week!

I'm sorry I have no advice I've never heard of that happening but I'm still kind of new at all of this. Good luck. Look at it this way I would think if you do O twice with two different IUI you have a better chance than just releasing 2 eggs with one IUI. Right?!?!

I would trust the RE but I understand how you would be concerned. If you are not dealing with  MFI, would you be up for haveing sex tonight just in case you do O today? That would leaving your H with a good couple of days to build up his sperm for the IUI in 2-3 days.

I would trust him and I bet you will get a positive by tomorrow.  Also, I would have sex tonight.  I triggered last night, with an IUI on Thursday, and we were told to have sex last night.

I think you should be ok since last cycle you did not O on your own a 24.5 follicle. How much have they grown each day? I think your 21 will probably get to 23 tomorrow and hopefully the 17 will catch up and then you can trigger tomorrow. I would trust your RE and if you do O tomorrow good thing you have the frozen sample and you can do IUI tomorrow. Good luck hun!

Are they monitoring your LH?  My last medicated cycle I was like you--I was in the doctor's office 5 or 6 days in one week (but that included b2b IUI's).  I know that with my b/w they monitor LH to see if I am surging on my own.  Even if you do start to surge tonight (and get a positive OPK) you probably wouldn't ovulate on your own until tomorrow or the next day. 

Sucks that you have to go in so often, but sounds like a plan that could work!  Good luck.

Funny you ask UMich - I noticed that some people have blood tests done around O - my RE isn't having me do that.  They are just doing the close monitoring.

If these u/s were any more expensive, I don't know what I'd do.  But they are only $110 apiece.

I think it sounds like you are really close!!  Like pp I think you have to trust your dr, although I always think you need to trust your gut too.  When those conflict it is tough, but even if you do O tonight, it sounds like you would be covered by doing the IUI tomorrow.  Good luck hun, I really hope this is the cycle for you!!!!
