Infertility

Can someone tell me about laparoscopy?

I had IUI #4 this morning. My normally happy/positive doctor was quite serious and said we need to move on to something else. He is suggesting laparoscopy or IVF. I've read about the surgery but I'd like to hear from someone who's been through it.

On a side note, why is my RE's office always crawling with babies?! Always...there were four in the office today and they were so damn adorable. The last time we went there was this super cute baby girl, when the mom got called back DH jokingly said to another couple, "she already has one!" (thank God, they weren't offended)

  • I wrote about my lap here. Hope it helps. :)
  • Also if you scroll down there is a post called "scared to death about lap" or something like that and there are several responses sharing their experiences. Good luck!

  • I had one done in October of '09.  They did find very little endo and removed it and a fibroid.  I remember the recovery period being very short.  I didn't experience much pain and I did get pregnant the following cycle.  However, that pregnancy was an ectopic pregnany.  I've often wondered if the lap was the cause (scar tissue).

    Good luck.

Just read, very informative. thank you.

  • My doctor only does laps on Fridays. Do I need to take off work Monday/Tuesday?
  • You'll proabably want to take Monday and possibly Tuesday. I had mine done last Thursday and planned to go back Monday but wound up working from home instead...I was glad I took that extra day. Good luck!
