Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

New to this board

Hi,

I am a long time lurker on the nest and new to the bump boards.  I started out lurking on the first tri boards but in less than a week I am now over here.  First, a little about myself: I am 28 years old and an elementary teacher in Indiana.  My husband and I had been trying for a few months to get pregnant.

We found out the day after Christmas that I was pregnant.  We only told immediate family and a few close friends.  We were super excited and happy as I'm sure all of you were when you found out you were pregnant.  Well on New Year's Eve I went into the emergency room with bleeding and cramping.  I then proceeded to have a miscarriage over the weekend.  The doctor is hoping it is natural since I was only 5 weeks along.  I go in Friday for an ultrasound to check and make sure that I don't need a D&C.

Thankfully I have an understanding principal and coworkers and I am able to be off this week from work.  I was so looking forward to going back to work after winter break pregnant but sadly this is now not the case.    Sorry this is kind of long.  Thanks for reading.  I feel that this board seems very supportive and I'm happy to get to know everyone.

  • Hi and welcome.  I am 30 and a teacher in the midwest as well.  I had a m/c in October so we have a lot in common...glad you're here, although sorry you have to be. I'm sure you'll find much support and kindness.

  • I am sorry you have to be here.  However, you're definitely right - this board is very supportive.  That's wonderful that your principal is also so supportive.  I was where you are a month ago.  It's been hard, but it definitely gets better.  Hang in there.
  • I'm so sorry for you loss. While it sucks to be here, this is a wonderful support system.
  • Thanks everyone for the kind words of support.

  • I, too, am so sorry for your loss.  I am an elementary principal, and we miscarried just before Christmas at 9 weeks.  I had a D&E on December 27th. We are very sad, but it does get easier.  I hope you get back to your little ones soon.  Best wishes!
