VBAC

So nervous...

I'm picking up my MRI imaging disk from before I was pg with DD.  It's an MRI I had to done to find out the exact shape of my uterus.  I'll be consulting with a couple of doctors - and it will probably determine whether or not I can HBAC or not.

I'm also not feeling terribly confident with this pregnancy.  I don't know why...I'm just not for some reason.

Re: So nervous...

  • (hugs)  I hope you are able to get good news from the doctors with the MRI.

I had moments early on where I felt like this pg wouldn't last and that I shouldn't get attached.  Fortunately, I was wrong.  :)  I hope the same applies to you - never a comforting feeling.

  • I just finished weeding through hundreds of images and now I'm depressed. I know I'm not a trained Dr. who reads these for a living... but I'm pretty sure I have a bicornuate uterus.  I am pretty sure this disqualifies me for an HBAC. :(

Really? I know this is purely anecdotal, but a GF of mine has a bicornuate uterus (hers has a septum that makes it "heart shaped") and has delivered both of her babies at a birth center with midwives. They live really far away from a hospital, and would have considered HB otherwise. It wasn't discovered until her second pregnancy during an early U/S due to spotting, and they discovered she had lost a twin. The MW group did not seem overly concerned about the bicornuate uterus.

That's nice to know that she was able to.  I'd love to still try for the HBAC - but trying for a natural VBAC in a hospital scares the crap out of me!

  • When do you find out? My neighbor is preparing for a home birth also.  Why would you be scared to have a VBAC in hospital?  I loved the midwives at TGH so much.  They did everything they could to not let me have a CS.

Sorry for all the questions... I'm just lurking here obviously. We are TTC and I'm interested in having a VBAC when I get preg.

totally understand that feeling!  I had my first VBAC in a hospital and got there pushing.  I don't know how it would have been had I gotten there earlier though since they were pushing Pitocin and an epi when I was at 10 cm!  I had a really good support system of my husband and doulas and all was fine, but I don't want the fight again.  We are planning a homebirth this time, but natural birth can happen in a hopsital if that is where you have to go.  You  just need a really good team on your side.
