Postpartum Depression

Anyone on Effexor XR? Read This

So beginning off December I saw my doctor regadring my PPA and how I felt like the celexa was making me crazy. I never ever wanted to leave my house, even to go to to work. I was terrified of something happening, what? I have no idea. Anyway he started me on effexor xr which is amazing and I feel better and have more energy. I was able to start a project just because I felt like it, not because I was panicked over getting it finished in time. The problem when I picked it up was they copay. They wanted $50 for the generic, yet the name brand was $25. I have decent insurance but it says in my formulary that the generic should only be $5 ($7 this year). ANyway I gave in and paid the $25 and found out it has to receive prior authorization becaused it is considered a step therapy drug. Since that is taking way too long to approve and I needed it today I looked online to see if there were any coupons. I have ones for my birth control that take $15 off. Well I found that effexorxr.com has a co-pay card that will reduce the 30 day prescription down to $4! so I signed up and printed the temporary card off and picked it up for $4. I was so happy. It only lasts for 1 year and once you reach $700 in savings it cuts off. If any of you use effexor xr I recommend signing up today.

  • Just a heads up...If you ever go off of the Effexor, be very careful and wean yourself off VERY slowly. I was on it for my migraines for about a year and a half and when I came off of it the side effects were terrible. It works so well when you are on it, but man was I sick and miserable when I had to stop taking it.

  • I agree about the withdrawal effects with Effexor.  THEY ARE BAD!  Make sure you are under a Dr's suppervision, and make sure you go very slowly.  You can even take it more slowly than your Dr recommends - that was something I didn't know at the time.  I'm a bit more versed now.  6 weeks is a good weaning period.  It is a great drug while you are on it, and I'm so glad that you found one that worked for you.  I was on it years ago.  Good luck!
