Cloth Diapering

New to CD, looking for advice.

I found out not-long-ago that I'm preggo with #2, and I've pretty much been sold on cloth diapering since DD's potty training days.  I don't want to regale you with my reasons for wanting to CD, as we all have our reasons, but what I do need is a little help.  I'm completely overwhelmed!  I've been doing oodles of research, but I'm really just lost.  So I want to ask parents who already know what they're doing - can anyone point me in the direction of maybe one or two really good websites with the most comprehensive CD information for a CD newbie like me, and/or directly offer some useful info?

How many should I buy to start with?  Which diapers have you had the most success with?  Is there a reputable place where I can order gently used dipes?  What, aside from the diapers themselves, will I need?  Having gone the disposable route before, I really feel like I'm leaving myself open for mistakes if I don't ask these questions, lol.  Halp?

  • I only just mosied over to the FAQ - kind of a "D'oh!" moment for me, I posted before I even checked it out, lol.  But thanks a bunch for the links, I'm checking them out right now!

Also, I'm kind of happy to know someone else is on the research train with me!  =)

  • This was the resource I used when I first started researching, my H used it too. I think it's one of the best sites out there for explaining everything to a newbie.

  • I'm still expecting myself, but DH and I attended a cloth diaper class at a local store where we live, it was so helpful, maybe there is something like that near you. We ultimately decided to start with prefolds and covers, they just really seemed to make the most sense to us. It is also my understanding that until you really start using them, you won't know what is going to work best for your child. I have seen several people recommend Jillian's drawers, due to they have a trial of different diapers, so you can use them and see what works best for your child.
  • Just wanted to pipe in as another newbie who is still in the research phase. The FAQs on this page and super helpful, as are reading through the daily posts. I also went to a CD class last night at a local shop and it was tremendously helpful to have a live person explain the different options -- and to be able to see and touch them.
