I was wanting to do a DIY mobile to hang from the ceiling over the crib or the changing station, I haven't decided yet.
For those of you that have made a mobile, what materiels did you use? More specifically, what did you use to hang the details from?
Re: Anyone making a DIY mobile?
I'm making one, using this as inspiration:

I made birds and cats out of different colored and patterened cardstock and then I'll hang them from embroidery hoops using thin ribbon.
Super cute Brit242!
sl_gordon, I don't even know why I didn't think of wooden dowels...duh!
Thank you both, I will fiddle around with both options and see what works best with the little starfish that I'm using.

I'm going to attempt to make a ribbon mobile like this one:

It's just an embroidery hoop, lots of pretty ribbons and a hot glue gun to hold it all together.
I've seen people make a mobile-like structure from paper pom-poms like these, but I think they may get dusty after a few months because they're made from tissue paper.

WOW, $40 for the paper tissue pom mobile? those things are so easy to make, and you're right, they do get dusty and loose their shape.
I'm currently making this one

It's been time consuming and finger numbing, but so far its really simple and cute!
