9 dpo and blood test

I had my annual appt today and when I told them my LMP was Nov. 22 they obviously did a urine test.  BFN. Big shocker since I'm only 9 dpo and had already used the bathroom multiple times this morning.  My Dr. then said she would do a quantitative blood test and check my progesterone.

My question is if she calls me back with negative results am I completely out for this cycle or is 9dpo early even for a blood test?

Nah, it could still be too early. If you figure your hcg is a 4, even if it's climbing steadily, they'll still call it negative since it's under 5. The number's got to start somewhere.

I am finding online that positive results are possible at 7dpo and your chances increase from there

I read this too, it says it can be detected 7-12 dpo. So while I think it is possible that if you are pregnant it will be detected, I think it is equally possible that it is too soon.

I was too so I wasn't even going to bring it up but when I she offered I figured I would go for it.

not necessarily.  with my DS, i had a blood test at 12dpo and that came back negative, but then i took a HPT the very next morning (13 dpo) and that was positive.  so, don't worry if it comes back negative, just wait a few days and try again.

For those that were curious my blood work came back negative but my progesterone showed that I had ovulated.  I guess I'm holding out a sliver of hope that I have a late implanter and it just hadn't showed up yet.
