anyone else totally congested? (vent)

i've had sinus congestion for about nine - yes NINE - straight weeks. it's so unbelievably irritating and has been waking me up several times throughout the night. during the last pregnancy i got a cold all the time, but at least i had a little break in between. this is relentless and nothing is clearing it up

to make matters worse, my killer headaches are back all the time now too. blowing my nose when i have headaches are so painful. i'm trying to take tylenol mildly, but sometimes i just can't help it. i'm talking headaches every other day now and it's unbearable. i forgot how much pregnancy sucks!

WOW Nine weeks!  Have you talked to the doctor?

 

My hubby gave me his head cold.  I am on day 5.  It can't decided if it wants to be a sinus infection or sore throat/ear infection.  What has help me a lot is doing the Neti Rinses?  Have you tried that?  I love them!

It seems my right nasal passage has eternally been congested due to swelling. My nasal spray works some nights and it really helps to have a humidifier. I breathe better on my R side overall so I favor that side.

Yep! I have sinus issues even when I'm not pg but I think I've read that is a common issue during pregnancy. I hate it too! I use a neti-pot and that does help some, but keeping a humidifier might help some too. I've had more colds and issues with being sick in the last 3 months then I have had in a while...stupid weakened immune system.

ugh- i have been congested throughout my pregnancy as well.  i definitely was not this congested last time.  my mom said that she was congested during her second pregnancy, but not her first.  weird...

i'm not sure if it has been causing my ear to ache, but i have been getting earaches throughout this pregnancy as well and have had to take some tylenol.

 so- i guess i'm just commiserating with you.  it sucks.

At this point, my constant congestion has overtaken morning as the most obnoxious pregnancy symptom.  I have tried saline spray, but that doesn't help, so now I'm on to Sudafed.  If I find a miracle solution I'll be sure to pass it on.

I can relate. I've been congested on and off for two months, but the last week has been really bad. I haven't tried any remedies yet, so I'm going to ask my OB what she suggests at my appointment this week.

I read somewhere that this can last throughout the pregnancy. I cannot handle being this congested for the next six months.

Oh man 9 weeks? I've had two separate cold that resulted in sinus issues since I've been pg. I do the neti pot rinses at least once a day but really I should do more. I get sinus headaches too. Is it possible your headaches are sinus related? I would check with your Dr about your sinus issue, esp. b/c it's lasted 9 weeks. I had a really bad one with my last pg that I ended up on antibiotics to clear it.

I feel ya..I have bad sinus issues in the winter anyways and being preggo on top of it makes it worse...the headaches are horrible..I go to bed with them and wake up with them. I just went to target and bout a vicks waterless vaporizer to put on my bedside and to go along with my humidifier...I am hoping that will work...

I emailed my doctor today...here was her response...

 

" Ok to use the Neti Rinse. Usually, viral and will clear up in a few days. If any fever or worsening symptoms, then might need antibiotics. 'Benadryl and pseudofed ok to use. Take care."
