Did anyone use the washable/reusable nursing pads? I used the disposables with Justin and even with nursing 10 months I feel like I went through a million of them. I'm trying to stock up either way and just looking for some feedback
Yup I only used the cotton ones and LOVED them! They were so nice and in the end less expensive because I could wash them and reuse them! Only once in a while did I completely soak through them and that was only on occassions when I was away from her for a long time and didn't get to pump. They good thing was even though I had completely soaked the pad it never went through to the outside of my bra so it was never noticeable.
I used them and they were great. They were really very comfortable. That being said. I never really leaked so I don't know how absorbent they would have been if I were "gushing" so to speak. I picked up a pack from BRU. I would just toss them in with his baby clothes to wash.

I have mixed feelings about the cloth. I did use them sometimes, but they are not as absorbent as the disposable ones, and I leaked a lot for quite a while. The other drawback is that they're not as thin, so I thought they showed through clothes more than disposables.
Maybe there are better ones out there than the cloth one that I had, but I never liked them. I alway felt like i leaked thru them way faster and that they were really obvious and awkward looki under my clothes.

I use the milk diapers brand and love them! I had some Nuk or Gerber early on and thdythey were like sandpaper. They come in two varieties, one is leakproof and have cotton flannel insides with a little shape so they don't show through clothes. I have 24 pairs so I don't have to wash more than twice a week or so. Much more comfortable and cost effective than the disposable.
I bought Gerber ones and then a bamboo kind (both were packs of 4). The Gerber ones weren't too great, they were sort of like a linen material. Both did NOT have waterproof backings, but they were fine at night, which was when I leaked anyway. They were all too bulky with my nursing bras during the day, but they were fine in like a padded cup bra.
I think there are a ton of great vendors on Etsy, the girls on the Eco riendly family board were always ravings about their nursing pads.
I tried 2 different ones and didn't care for them-they always showed through my clothes and when I used the lansinoh, it would stain them and get them oily and it wouldnt come out when I washed them. They're supposed to be hand washed too which is a pain in the rear. I liked the disposables better.
I received a box of Medela and Lansinoh ones for my shower. I liked the Medela ones better, but I can't remember the reason any more. It wasn't anything that was a big deal though bc I had coupons for Lansinoh and would have gone with them if I had needed more, but never ended up even going thru those 2 boxes.
I can say I am so glad I had disposables for when I was going thru thrush.
One tip I got from the Lactation Consultant - press on your breast firmly for about 5-10 seconds when you feel it start to leak or let down. I would even do this when dd started nursing on one side to the other side so that it wouldn't leak. If I was in public, I just used my forearm instead of my hand (like if you put your hand up to your face you can smush your boob pretty good that way).
