how to extend a onsesie?

I got Addie's halloween costume off ebay and it's a smidge too small. If I could just give an inch to the onesie part it would fit perfectly.
I know they make onesie extenders but she doesn't wear onesies anymore, so I don't want to buy a pack for 12 bucks to use one for a night. Does anyone have one they might sell/lend?
Or can anyone think of a brilliant way to make something that might work? I'm not really a sewer beyond basic stiches.

I have one you're welcome to borrow/keep.  It's a white 3-snap Gerber onesie extender.  I have to warn you I've tried it with several onesies and it didn't work because the snaps were a different style.  But I'd be happy to send it to you just so you can give it a try.  Email me at:

They also have some on cottonbabies website!  It looks like it is just elastic with 3 snaps.
