Stella Jane or Jillian April?

Thoughts?

We love Stella Jane, but hate popular names. So we're concerned about its rising popularity (and similarity to Ella, Bella, etc).

Love Jillian, but can't think of any great middle names. Plus it's bound to be shortened to "Jill."

Re: Stella Jane or Jillian April?

  • I really like Jillian but not April.  Is the combo set in stone?  I like Stella as well but agree with you that it's getting over used with the Ella/Bella trend.

  • I love Stella. I don't see it becoming a Bella, but it's definitely getting it's groove back (tehehehehe, sorry, couldn't help it.)

  • Out of those two options, Stella Jane.

I like Jillian too, but not with April as a mn. Is the middle name up for change? Or no?

  • I like the combo of Stella Jane better, but I think Jillian is prettier. I just don't like it with April. What about Elizabeth, Grace, Kate, Rose, Elise, Claire.

  • I vastly prefer Stella, and I think it's absolutely lovely with your first daughter's name, Violet. I wouldn't be too worried about popularity myself, but that's your call.

  • I'm a Jillian-- and go by Jillian.

It is very rare that someone address me as Jill.  If I introduce myself as Jillian, I usually stick that way....

  • I think Stella Jane is beautiful. It is getting more popular, but I don't think its going to get crazy popular. Have you considered Estelle with the nn Stella? I'm not a fan of Jillian and esp not with the nn Jill.

    This.

And I'm not a fan of Jillian. I know too many born in the 80's so it'd very dated to me.

  • I love the combo of Stella Jane (not a huge fan of Stella, but its not bad).

  • I love the name Stella.  Jillian not so much.  It reminds me of a crazy woman's daughter on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

WIth that said, DH and I were going through our name list the other day and our girl choice for our next baby is Stella Violet.
