Though I have no idea how I got it since I feel like that is a thing you get when at school as a kid. Anyway I am at odds on what to do. Go to the Dr or not? Go to work or not? According to WebMd strep will go away the same amount of time antibiotics or not and that getting drugs shortens the contagious period. But on a website in regaurds to BFing and antibiotics it said to watch out for thrush and supply issues, so I don't really want drugs then. But I have one of those jobs that unless you are dying, you are expected to come in. I don't think that is fair to the people coming in contact with me and my sickness though. That is how illness gets spread around the workplace! Damn boss.
Re: I'm pretty sure I have strep throat
do you want your baby to get strep throat? you should get the antibiotics to prevent the contagious period for LO.
a friend of mine gets strep so bad that her throat nearly closes up. baby throats are even smaller than adult throats.
Ooo bummer. Hope it's not strep and that you feel better soon!
My sister's 6 year old gets strep a lot (there's talk of getting his tonsils taken out) and since she watches DD during the day, I was worried, but their pedi said that it's rare for a baby under 2 to get strep since their tonsils aren't really big enough to hold the infection. So, there's that bit of good news.
My sister got it this last go round and felt better the next day with a Z-pac (sp?) but I'm not sure how that would do with the breastfeeding.
I'm sure if your supply is well established a day of meds won't do too much irreversible damage.
that's good, then... and sorry i was kind of snooty in my other response, i re-read it just now and was like wow, that did not come out right
