So last Thursday, I had my beta & progesterone checked and both are low. My RE's office doesn't do beta & p4 repeats until a week later, but I called today to see if they can do a check and they said I can come in tomorrow. The nurse said that they wait 5 days after increasing p4 to see if it is working, but at least I can see if my beta doubled? WTF! I have never heard of this, anyone else? I did tell the girl that I just don't get why it matters today versus tomorrow and of course I'm boohooing:( My hubs is off today and can drive me which is safer since I am so sleep deprived.
I have been suffering from severe insomnia and lower back pain which are signs of low p4, not to mention the stress of having such low numbers.
My main reason for wanting a check today is to either start to accept that this is not going to turn out the way we want with a sticky baby or if my levels increased, at least give me some hope and maybe I can relax a bit. Being stuck in limbo sucks. I am alittle pissed right now at my RE's office.
This same RE didn't want to check to see if I have the blood clotting issue prior to IVF because he said it wasn't common and if I got my bfp we would test? I also requested he check my Vitamin D levels and he said I needed to go to my PCP, but I have read that insufficient Vit D levels is linked with if (and he is treating me for if). Thanks for letting me vent.
Re: I just don't get it...RE vent (long).

I seriously doubt it, he's pretty set in his "protocol ways" it seems to me. I think every IF women is different and you should treat accordingly, but apparently they don't think this way at my RE's. Thanks for the kind words:)
I think you are absolutely right with this. I can understand how frustrating it must be to not be in control of what you are going through right now. Protocols are not one size fit all and it's unfortunate that some doctors feel they should be. I'm sorry for your frustrations! I hope you are able to come to some agreement with your RE.

I had my Vit. D checked on my CD3 b/w - and it was low. They put me on a very high dose for 8 weeks and then on 2000 IU/day currently. I also did the research on vit. D linked to IF - and I agree that you should be tested.
I'm not sure where you are located - and that might be a reason why I was tested - since it may be routine in my area - since we are not known for sunny days here in Buffalo!
GL - it sucks to be in limbo like this!

It's a Boy and a Girl!
Born at 34w3d!
I live in NC, so we have plenty of sunshine! However, I have slighty darker skin and I have read that darker skin doesn't always absorb Vitamin D even if you have enough sun exposure. I didn't get why I should go to my PCP & pay a copay since I am always at the RE's office and they can just do the bloodwork there! Whatever...I sent the nurse an email and it wasn't mean, but I let her know that I was upset.
How did you know I'm still taking hpt's
? Yes, I take one every am and they are still positive, but not darker...I have officially lost it! I was just so upset earlier and think it is a combination of being over tired, hormones and the emotional roller coaster I have been on this past cycle. I'm better now and realize it's not the end of the world to wait another day:) Thanks!
