Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Never again! (vent)

I have been using Huggies on LO since she was born but this weekend we went out of town and I just grabbed a pack of Pampers that I received as a gift to take with us. I had read the reports about how Pampers had been giving chemical burns but read that it was only the Dry Max brand. NOPE! The Pampers I have are the the sensitive brand and LO has the worst chemical burn ever! I only used three diapers before it showed up. Poor girl is so miserable and it looks terrible. I realize that not all babies are affected but they should take this junk off the shelf if ANY baby is at risk!

  • Aww I hope she's better soon. There's nothing worse than not being able to make it all better for our LOs. I'm happy I decided against Pampers this time around. They worked so well with DD, but I didn't want to take a chance on burning DS's little bum. There should be a lawsuit against Pampers for not pulling those things off the shelf. Again, good luck with your LO.

  • Thats one of the reasons I chose to  cloth diaper.  I do use disposable ones when traveling but mainly use cloth.  My DS doesn't seem to be allergic but I still didn't want to deal with chemicals.

  • I love Pampers! We have the ones with dry max and they are great. Some babies just don't tolerate certain diapers. If diapers were taken off the shelf for every diaper rash - there would be none to buy!

  • Sorry guys, not trying to be dramatic or put down anyones favorite brand...just sharing my personal experience. What my LO has looks like this....

I just feel really bad that I can't do anything to make her feel better.

  • I won't use the pampers with the dry max. We always used pampers with DD, and she never had a diaper rash. The dry max came out when she was about 1 1/2. Within a day or two she had a horrible burn on her bottom. I switched brands, and the rash cleared up after about a week. I thought maybe it was a fluke, and tried pampers again when I ran out of the new diapers. She ended up with another rash. That was the end of pampers for us. She never had another rash after we switched brands.

  • The Pampers issue is NOT an allergy, it's a burn.  DS got it so bad and I was battling his "rashes" which were really bleeding chemical burns for months before I read about the DryMax problem and switched him to Kirkland brand until he toilet trains. Needless to say, DD is cloth diapered. I don't trust those diaper companies anymore.  WTF is in those things?!?!

  • I think the sensitives have drymax in them... only pampers without drymax is the baby dry line. I've used those on my 14 month old since we switched to size 3. I'm using pampers leftover from DD1 right now, but I think we might end up going to huggies when those run out until she's big enough for baby dry, or I can find the baby dry in the smaller sizes. I know they make them, but they're really hard to find sometimes!
  • With DS 1 it was anything but Pampers that gave him a rash with DS 2 it seems to be anything but Huggies.

  • My oldest got a chemical burn from Huggies. It was confirmed as a chemical burn by our pediatrician. It was blistered and everything and it was just 1 diaper. My second got awful rashes with Luvs and Pampers and does great on Huggies. This is before the days of DryMax. It just happens, some babies are sensitive to and react differently to different diapers. My youngest seems to do fine with any brand.

  • This is why I cloth diaper. We had some disposables in the diaper bag that we got as a gift and figured we'd keep for emergencies when out.  We took DD to my mom's to watch her for a few hours while we went out and my mom decided to use the dispoables instead of the cloth and the next morning DD had an AWFUL reaction.  Never ever ever again.  We haven't even had the slightest bit of rash on her little bum since.  I love the cloth!
