I have something similar it isn't quite black, but dark brown. I think it is the umbilical cord scar. We just now noticed them, since our belly buttons are slowly disappearing .

I have/had this too.  As my skin has stretched more and more and my belly button has come closer to the surface it has gone away.  (It kind of just fell out).  My theory, though, is that it was part of my ambilical cord.  Hmm

i'd be very surprised if it were part of your umbilical cord 20-30 years after your birth.   I'd guess that it would either have disintegrated into dust by now or been absorbed back into your own body.  my guess is dirt.

my belly button got dark brown inside with my first pregnancy and although it did irritate it i managed to slough it off.

I also have something in my belly button.  My belly button never popped but has definitely become more shallow.  Whatever is in mine is not dirt or lint, it looks like a mole or like others said a scar form UC, it has always been there but now it is much more noticeable.

Believe it or not, it could be her umbilical cord. This happened to a few ladies on PGAL and BOTB, and I looked it up because it seemed so odd.

It is possible. Weird, but possible.
