Trouble TTC

anyone decide to forego the trigger while on meds?

I had a lot of side effects after the trigger shot this month.  I had the sh!ts for literally 2 weeks, and it finally stopped the days my pregnancy tests were all the way negative.  I don't think it really even did much this last month; it doesn't look like I Oed until 3 days after the shot, and then our timing wasn't near as good as it could have been.  It made my temps all wacked out and my monitor was so confused.  Not to mention the sore asscheek for several days.  Ovulating has never been an issue for me, I just ovulated pretty late in my cycle.  My doc just wanted my cycles shorter, get me pregnant faster so my endo has a lesser chance of coming back or at least not getting as bad as it got in the 4 months I was off bc.

Have you ever not done the trigger, and just the meds?  Would you try a cycle without it if you were me?

  • I might try a cycle without it if I were you.  Can you talk to your doctor about it? I am doing my 2nd unmedicated cycle because ovulating has never been an issue for me either and so far it seems we are only dealing with MFI.  So no meds, no trigger.  I would say that if you do it, you should be monitored pretty frequently.  For me, I start monitoring on CD10 and then come back either every day or every other day to do an u/s to check my follicle size and b/w to check for a surge.  But you are in a different situation bc your doctor wants you to O early, so I'm not really sure if it's the right thing for you.

I would say that my monitor has been pretty much useless.  Last cycle, I never even got a high reading when my blood clearly showed a surge and my follicle size was at 20.  I also O'd super early for me.  I did get an almost positive OPK the night before the IUI (when that morning the monitor was still on low), but I am thankful for the monitoring bc I would have missed it.

  • Thanks for your reply!  I'm definitely going to be monitored, and on Femara I've never had more than one mature follie at my CD12 scan and I've been responding really well to it.  I'll make sure it is okay with the NP and my doc, for sure.  Thanks again!
