We have had a full-time nanny since our daughter was 6 months old (she's almost 3). We used Morningside Nanny Agency and had great luck. It's very expensive but they sent us 6 well-qualified candidates to interview. Our current nanny is getting ready to "retire" to have her own child. This time around we used care.com and sittercity.com. I felt a little more confident in my ability to run background checks and interview both the candidates/references so I took the chance on using one of these on-line services. I figured if it didn't work, we could always go back to Morningside.
I just met with someone at the Motherhood Center yesterday regarding the nanny process and she was really great and answered all my questions. We filled out the application and are starting the process, they charge a $100 search fee, but nothing else unless you decide to go with one of the candidates they provided. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it works out.
Re: Best place to find a full time nanny?
I haven't used them, but the Motherhood Center has a service.
