I don't know what happened to my cheerful toddler. For the past 2 weeks he's been very fussy and throwing tantrums for everything: putting him in the car seat, the high chair, the stroller. Right now he's overtired and in his crib and I have tried everything to soothe him but he's red in the face and crying inconsolably. When I go pick him up he cries even harder unless I put him down on the floor. I don't know if it's teething or something's bothering him. Yesterday he woke up from his nap crying too, when normally he wakes up all happy and playful.
I don't know if I should take him to the pedi, is this normal? He's very feisty and refuses to cooperate with anything, especially diaper changes. I'm seriously at my wit's end and feel like a terrible mother. Yesterday I screamed at him and felt really bad afterwards.
Are 16-month olds supposed to be this difficult or is it that he has some kind of problem? I'm so depressed right now...
Re: Constant crying
Teeth??
Charlie was that way all day on Friday. His molars have popped out and I finally figured out that that was what was probably bothering him. A little Baby Orajel and some aspirin and he finally calmed down.

I'd say teeth. And I could have written this post myself. Between the weaning and several teeth coming in(drooling, chewing etc) M has been crying constantly over the last week. It's really freaking me out - not worry-wise, but it's nuking my nerves.
Sorry for the hijack.

Molars suck.
Aaron was crank monster with his uppers (been out for around 2 months) and now his lowers are breaking through and he has "moods". He's not crying constantly like Adrian (poor boy/poor mama) but he has his moments.
And don't totally disregard toddler tantrums. They happen well before a LO turns 2 (per my SIL1 and MIL). Aaron definitely will throw himself on the floor and kick and scream if he doesn't get his way. I just let him. I'm not sure what else to do. But it's frustrating.
