TTC Question from a newbie :)

Hello everyone! I'm new to the boards. My husband and I are TTC#1, and this is cycle 1 for us. I had a few questions and hoping someone can fact-check for me

I've been off BC for 3 months now, and my cycles have always been 28-30days. Never been late. CD1 was 12/01/10, OV was 12/21/10, and my period was due between 12/28 and 12/30. Currently CD32, no period and no positive on the pee-stick yet. I've had light cramping here and there, but no pms symptoms (don't normally have pms anyway - kind of lucky). I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't test until about 10-14dpo, regardless of when your period is due. Is that correct? I'm just trying to figure out why I'm late but still getting negatives. If it's correct, then at 11dpo should I be getting a positive?
