Mega Bloks safe?

DD received a huge tub of Mega Bloks for Christmas and seems to love them. However, I was just reading past reports on lead being in them, etc.  Does anyone know if these blocks are now safe?  How would I find out if they contain bpa, etc?

    Oh, I didn't know about the lead in them. I hope they are safe because DD loves them and we got her some for Christmas.

     Curious to read the answers.

    no idea. my kids love them but they don't chew on them & even though I know they could technically get exposed otherwise, I'm not too worried, I dont think the paint could chip off there too easily. plus i think a lot of that press is several years old from what i can tell?

    Aren't there new standards now?  If they were just purchased, then I don't see the problem.

    From what I can gather these issues were from '07 '08.  I am sure the company was fined and told to fix the problem and stricter testing now.  With that being said if you bought brand new ones then you are pretty safe.  Older ones may be problematic.  Hope that helps.
