United Way Book Program

FW: Community News

I just found out about a great program that provides books for children from birth to 5yrs.  Hope some mommies out there can use it.

United Way and the Imagination Library Hillsborough County Partnership launched an early literacy initiative to put books in the hands of young children, helping prepare them for kindergarten. Hillsborough County?s kindergarten class of 2011 ? infants born on or after September 1, 2006 are eligible to participate in the program. Beginning with ?The Little Engine That Could,? children receive an age-appropriate hard-cover book FREE each month from birth to age five. ?Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come? is the final book each child receives as they prepare to enter kindergarten.

Re: United Way Book Program

  • We joined a few months ago, when my DS was about 18 months old. I asked at the library "is this designed for people who can't afford books?" because I'd never want to sign up & take away resources from people who need this more than I do. ?The woman said absolutely not - it's for everyone.

My DS LOVES the books we get. ?We've only had one dud so far, but the rest have been real winners. ?I can't wait to get October's book!?
