Throwing up once a day?

A few days ago DD was pretty sick, throwing up every few hours. That lasted about 24 hours, but for the 3 days since then, she's been throwing up just once each day. She also has no appetite, though I've been able to nurse her (thank goodness!) so I know she's at least staying hydrated. She seems fine except for the few minutes before she throws up, and then is okay afterward.

I assume it's some sort of stomach virus, but I don't get why it's lingering like this, and why she's only throwing up just once a day. Anyone have any experience with this? This is the first time she's thrown up, and I've never had anything like this.... We're on vacation right now so I can't take DD in to the pedi until Tuesday. Help!

Re: Throwing up once a day?

  • We have that stomach virus going through our house right now too, me and dd had it on Tuesday and we're still sick. I'm hearing that it's been lasting about a week. Just continue to push the fluids, I've been pushing water and pedlyte. Milk seem to make it worse for dd.  : ( Def. no fun though.

  • We had this about 6 months ago it started with the once a day puking then diarrea for about 4 more days before it was all over. Push the fluids and it will pass. We did pedialyte for a few days and that really helped.

  • Sounds just like what DS had.  Day 1 he puked 3-4 times overnight, then was fine the next day, then a day later puked 1x...this went on with a day between with no puking for 8 days!  He also had bad diarea on about day 6.  It was very odd because he would seem fine one day, no puke, and then wake up the next day puking and not eating.  Sorry you're dealing with this on vacation!
