Cost of Childcare

Hi- I live in the Ambler/Abington area and am not quite TTC, but talking about it. Does anyone know what the cost is of childcare in the area. I'm trying to figure out how we could make it work financially. thanks!

Full-time infants are about $200-250/wk.

I live in the Abington area. We've looked at both this area and the Lansdale area and found most centers will cost around 1000-1100 a month for full time care (most don't offer part time). The one we chose is $220 wk (multiply that by 4.3 weeks per month to work it out to 52 weeks in the year) for 4 days of care.

I use a family member who does home care. She charges $35 per day in the Manayunk area of Philadelphia. So it is like $175 per week. She watches 3 including my son, I felt like 1 of 3 is better than 1 of 10. I worked at a daycare and know how overwhelming it can be to have so many in a room. Sometimes home care is the way to go, but of course you can't write it off at tax time.
