We both have IRAs that were 401Ks from previous employers. We don't contribute to them, but we do contribute to 401Ks--usually max matching, but since Luke came along we've backed that off.
We contribute to DH's 401(k), but don't contribute to my 403 (b) now that I'm not working. We'll start contributing to it again when I go back to work.

We don't have IRAs, but we both have 401(k)s. We both do the most that the employer "matches" and no more. We finally agreed on an emergency fund that we wouldn't touch and what our next big purchase will be (mattress, how exciting, lol).
We probably won't get an IRA for a long time, bc it won't be that long before we move and/or replace DH's car.

We pay into DH's 401k, my 403b, TRS (Teacher retirement system) for me, and both max our IRAs. Without doing all of that plus a ton of other things, taxes would kill us. We're seriously thinking of moving up TTC plans because of taxes, how horrible is that!?
