NBR-Question about drycleaners

I dropped off our valances last Tuesday to get pressed, so I could hang them when family came over for the holiday. The guy didn't know how much to charge, so he had the owner call me the next morning. I asked how long it would take, he said a few minutes. The owner called, I said go ahead and do them, how long will it take? She said she'll probably do them tomorrow (Thursday). So I wait and hear nothing, stop by Friday, but they're already closed, too late to have them up for our party. By today I still heard nothing so I went there, and the lady tells me they're done. I said that no one called me, she laughed and said that they don't call everyone. I never use a drycleaner, is that how they usually do it? She said you just come back after 2 days, but I say that they never gave me a day that it would be done, just "probably". I was just going to pick it up and bring it somewhere else, since I thought they were taking so long I was going to give my business to somewhere else. I am so mad that I could have had the thing last week, but maybe I was supposed to assume that I was just supposed to go get them? Sorry so long!

DH used to have his uniforms dry cleaned every week. They never called to let him know when they were done but they would give him a time frame to pick them up (normally a day and a half). But they screwed him over like they did to you - didn't tell him when exactly to pick them up and when he went to the store they were mysteriously closed for the day at 11am on a non-holiday Tuesday. He had to borrow a coworkers uniform for that night. Ever since then, we refuse to go to ANY dry cleaners for any reason. Just my two-cents :)

I brought them there because I was busy and it was convenient, but the one other time I have used a drycleaner it was them, and I wasn't happy either. They did my wedding dress, which still has wine stains on it. A week after it was dropped off they still hadn't done it yet, no wonder they didn't come out! Serves me right I guess.

We use a dry cleaner every week and have had the opportunity to try many different ones.  We always get a time frame (pick up Wed after 5pm, or this will be ready in 2 days), but we never get a phone call.

We get our dry cleaning delivered, but there's usually a date on the receipt showing when it will be ready. I've never gotten a phone call. More often than not, I'll be asked, "When do you want it?" Or, "Is Tuesday okay?" And they'll have it done.

OK, I'm not mad about them not calling then, but they didn't say an actual day they'd be done either, just "probably". So I'll still be mad :) I still don't have them either, because they only take cash or check. Who in this day doesn't at least take a debit card?
