Postpartum Depression

not to this point yet...but

...I had a really traumatic experience with my last time...after a huge long battle with courts, MIL's who were lawyers and other things, I let my little girl go for adoption at 3 weeks and went spiraling down into very very bad depression. I have heard of other scary stories about postpartum depression and am worried that I might have to deal with feeling a lack of interest in our new baby when he/she is here. I love him/her so much already and it's just the size of a raspberry, I can't imagine feeling uninterested in any way, but I know these things happen due to hormones and such....please help ladies! I need advice on how to avoid this!

  • I would mention it to a your OB and maybe proactively get counseling.  I think sometimes it is harder to be objective and schedule it once you are already in a "bad place".  Even if you don't have the feelings you are worried about, you may want counseling anyway to deal with what happened in the past.  It sounds like you are not yet at peace with it.  I hope things go very smoothly this time around for you.
