When I went for my first appt. my doctor's office gave me this packet and in it was a list of a few common drugs people take or different things. Pepto was a no no but I believe Imodium was OK...not sure if that would help you...
I've heard the same thing. No to Pepto during pregnancy. This has been the worst for me since I have a really weird stomach and have practically lived on it in the past.
Almost all drugs are Class C for pregnancy, because they cannot run the proper trials on pregnant women to remove it from that category. No pregnant woman is going to volunteer for a drug trial that might harm her baby. In all honesty, that rating is pretty meaningless when you are talking about pregnancy.
A simple Google search of Pepto Bismol took me to the manufacturer's Web site, which recommends asking your doctor first. So that's what I would do.

Some Class C drugs are worse than others. A drug can be Class C because there's a lack of any definitive information, but it can also be Class C when there is a suggestion of a link to birth defects in animal studies or human data.
Personally, I would not feel comfortable taking the active ingredient in Pepto (bismuth subsalicylate) because the safety of the salicylate class is known to be suspect during pregnancy. That's why aspirin and acne medications like salicylic acid aren't recommended.
At any rate, it's on the big no list from my doctor, and my husband (also a doctor) would not feel comfortable with me taking it either, especially for a non-emergency.

Re: Pepto Bismo??
I was sick a few days before my 24 week appointment. When I mentioned it to my Dr she asked if I took any Pepto. I said no, but she said it was fine.
It's a class C drug and I personally have avoided all of those, including some that plenty of people have said their Drs have okayed.
