Ipod Touch dilemma: WWYD?

Dh's brother (who works for Apple) gave the whole family Ipod Touch's for Christmas, including our 4 year old.  Plus, he already has an Ipad that dh got from work.  My mom would really like to have/borrow his since ds doesn't even realize he got one.  He was too interested in the figurines and cars to even notice that little gadget.  Would it be rude to let her have it for awhile even though she lives across the country?  Dh's brother only visits us once a year because he travels so much.  What do you think?

Your 4 y/o has an iPad and an iPod?! I would say give the iPod to your Mom, but I think that's a tough call not knowing the family dynamics.

Yeah, I know.  But we don't have wireless yet so the Ipad only has some downloaded games and movies on it.  It was really a replacement for the portable DVD player that doesn't play anymore.

DS doesn't even know about the Ipod but my mom was hoping it would bring her into the 21st century.  I doubt his brother would ever find out but I feel weird basically "regifting" it.

    Thanks for responding.

  • I think if your kid's uncle gave a gift to his nephew, it shouldn't be given to your mom.  I think your DH can mention to his brother how much your mom would love an iPod on the Apple discount and she can pay for one herself if your BIL doesn't have an extra to give her (most people don't want them anymore now that the iPad is out and with the iPhone coming out through Verizon soon) but if your BIL had wanted to give an iphone to your mom, he would have.

  • I don't think it's rude, but I also wouldn't expect to ever give it back if you give it to her.  Personally, I'd just let him have the itouch, and keep the ipad for yourselves.
