Ugh to first time out for furniture, stroller, car seat stress-ADVICE NEEDED!

Ok ladies,

I know that you have all been here so the overwhelming feeling can't be abnormal.  We can't afford to spend tons of money on anything, since we did the IVF OOP, we didn't think that all of these things would even add up to the cost of doing IVF....but need advice.  Finally found cribs, we are between the IKEA (which only goes to a toddler bed for 100 each, or the DaVinci Reagan 4-in-1 on diapers.com....any recommendation????

Next, car seats....there are tons of Graco Snugrides...do we go to the 35???

Finally, the stroller feels like the hardest purchase.  We will be getting the double snap and go for the car seats for the beginning but which one next?

Kolcraft- Tandem Cotour???  or is it better for a side-by-side.  Do they kick each other with the tandem?  Do they both need to see?  easiest to use?  Again, don't want to spend the 500 on a city mini, bob etc.

PLEASE help...I know that you have been there!!!  Also, may of these things they don't carry at Babies R Us or at Buy Buy Baby...quite frustrating!

Thanks in advance!!!!

  • We have the IKEA gullivers and love them!

Bought the snap n go used from the MoM group

Have the basic snugrides- they are 16lbs now and I can barely lift the things- now way would I be able to carry them up to 35 lbs.  Waited for the best price on amazon.

A friends bought us the kolcraft but I don't like that I have to remove the seats to fold it up so I'm in the market for a side by side and am thinking the combi...

I did most of my shopping on amazon...

Good luck and always check craigslist!

We were on a limited budget too so I understand. My recs:

    * Ikea cribs. (Chances are the wood will get nicked/chewed up etc. after the first few years anyway so you may not end up wanting to convert past toddler bed!)

    * Basic Graco Snugrides. The 35s are heavier to begin with and I didn't want any extra weight to lug around! Even with the basics I rarely carried the seats around after my boys were 18 lbs or so.

    * If you want, just start with the DSNG. I feel like once your babies are here (and you've used the DSNG for a while) you'll have a better feel for whether you want a tandem or SBS, which features are most important to you, et. The Kolcraft seems cool, but large and bulky. I would consider a City Micro ($200)_ or City Mini (they are $400, not $500). some people love the Maclaren twin strollers, too.

  • We bought Graco Lauren cribs. They were recommended in Baby Bargains. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Lauren-4in1-Crib-White/11081894. I love them!

Graco Snugrides - We didn't get the 35. There was no way I was going to carry babies that heavy. My girls are almost 1 year and we're still using the standard 22lb gracos. I'm glad we didn't spend more on infant seats as we were then able to afford Britax for their convertible seats.

Get the DSNG. You won't regret it. Its cheap, easy to fold, easy to maneuver and has a huge basket. Don't buy another stroller until you've used the DSNG for a few months. There is no double stroller that has every feature, so you'll need to know which are important features for you. The DSNG will give you a good idea of what's important to you. This will also give you time to find a good deal on the one you want or even find one used or through a MoMs sale. We bought a Combi sport when the girls were 7 months. I though for sure I'd want a City Mini but am glad I didn't buy it before the babies arrived. My umbilical hernia and ab separation are just too bad to be lifting anything that heavy in and out of a van. HTH!

  • We just bought one crib and the girls share it just fine, for the first months we got a Grecco pack and play that has double bassinets on the top and it has worked wonderful got it on Amazon for $130.00

We got a double stroller free from friends of ours so that was a huge help. I would not go with a side by side stroller, it's very difficult if you are using it at stores, to wide for some doors and elevators if your going to doctors appointments and such.

Car seats we ended up paying a lot as we got had already bought a rear facing seat that is good to 25lbs before we found out we were having twins so we just ended up buying another and all together that was about $670.00
