Also - MrsBaker had something about people telling her "just wait until they're here..." I'd like to punch people in the face right along with you. I CAN'T STAND when people make those comments. We planned to have a baby, I understand my life will change, but I can only assume that it's going to change for the better. If it wasn't for the better than I don't think I'd want kids. And through all the downs, there are more ups. And people that come at me with negative responses such as those can keep them to themselves. Just because YOU were not prepared for what may be, doesn't mean that I am not prepared. And just because you don't allow your husband to do jack squat (you're afraid he might break them) doesn't mean that I'll be afraid to let DH watch the kids and go out for a beer by myself! Smile

    Exactly!

  • I agree with quite a few of these.

    - Long siggies are annoying.

    - People who call the doctor for results of blood work multiple times per day.  Also, people who call before the blood work is supposed to be back.

    - NT Scans do not give false positives.  They give odds.  The actual scan measures some very specific things and can tell you with certainty if things are okay.  I believe in science.  I also believe in god.  It's not one or the other.

    - People who are "neat freaks" annoy me, but mostly because I am a slob and very jealous that people can keep (and desire to keep) a neat clean house.

    - I am sick and tired of being nauseated and tired all the time.  I thought things were supposed to be getting better.  Yet, no foods I enjoy taste good anymore and I'm like the walking dead all the time.

    - I HATE thunder storms.  Not because I personally hate them, but my dog is terrified of them.  Which means when we have one, I don't sleep.  It sucks.

    - People who say, "I'm never going to xyz when I have a baby".

My Confession is i'm sick of the whole NT scan thing. Some people just don't want to get it done. It doesn't mean they are ignorant. Just worry about your own choices and let others worry about their own. Getting an NT scan does not make you better in some way. It just means you got an NT scan. I am so ready for everyone to be past the point of getting them done so the discussions are over.

OMG, I could probably DITTO most of the FFC today!!!

This is one of the ones that I agree with. Not all OB's do the NT Scan. My doctor does a Quad Screen (b/w) just to check levels and see if they're out of whack. I do this, insurance pays for it. Doesn't make me better or worse than anyone else. It is what it is. If my OB didn't have me get it done, I'd never know about and I'd never get it done.

Also - MrsBaker had something about people telling her "just wait until they're here..." I'd like to punch people in the face right along with you. I CAN'T STAND when people make those comments. This entire thing.  I wasn't offered a NT scan either, just the quad screen.

And I HATE when people tell me "just wait until you have kids" ughhhh!!!!!!  I am waiting, I've been waiting, if having kids was so terrible then why do YOU have any??

P.S. It doesn't help when one of DH's old friends (who we haven't spoken to in over a year) calls up and tells me his wife can tell me what I am "doing wrong" since she had such an easy, perfect pregnancy and he heard I've had m/s.

    ::throatpunch::

I hope you told them "thanks, but no thanks."  Maybe you can tell him what he's "doing wrong" in the MYOB department.

Oh and to top it off, we'll be seeing them tonight at a mutual friends NYE party. Yippee for me. (I may have to try the throat punch!) Wink

I'm just thinking that there are times when a nut punch (can I say that on TB?) is necessary ....

FFFC - Those "Healthy Weight Gain" badges drive me nuts.  I hate them.  Everytime I see one, I just want to scream!

Yes  I say we make a badge that says "Excessive Weight Gain Club" in response. Other than Hollywood starlets who have been starving for their entire lives, who actually aims to gain an unhealthy amount of weight?!

I second this! That's like when my rude (former) Dr. told me that I was overweight and needed to lose some lbs. I guarantee you, every overweight woman in america already knows this, and does not need to be told.

  • I thought of one more.   Women who use their pregnancy as an excuse to be huge bitches.  I don't care about your hormones.  There is no reason to be a raving lunatic.

  • I have another one!!

Our area has had snow at least three or four times a week since the beginning of December and it hasn't gotten above freezing. Today, the sun is out and it's probably 40 or 50 degress out there. I just saw some kid riding a bike in a spaghetti strap shirt and capris. ::headdesk::

Embarrassed well ... I am supposed to be gaining an "unhealthly" amount of weight BUT it's under doctors orders.

But really, you are having a BABY!!! I love this chart:

    • Baby: 7-8 pounds
    • Placenta: 1-2 pounds
    • Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
    • Uterus: 2 pounds
    • Maternal breast tissue: 2 pounds
    • Maternal blood : 4 pounds
    • Fluids in maternal tissue: 4 pounds
    • Maternal fat and nutrient stores: 7 pounds

    from https://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/eatingfortwo.html

That's 20 pounds of non "maternal fat" stores, so relax and eat.  Trust me when I say; you do NOT want the skinny, failure to thrive baby in the nursery because you didn't gain enough weight! I had that baby - NOT FUN!!

..... and rant over ... sorry!!

  • If I hear one more person tell me I'm young to be pregnant I'm going to punch them in the face. In two months I'll be 26. And I'm married. And I have a good job. Guess I better apply to be on Teen Mom....Ugh!!

  • I'm pretty much over people judging me (and others) for being truthful when I tell them I am so far not enjoying the pregnancy and feel like crap. Telling me I'm lucky to be pregnant and should enjoy it infuriates me. I know I'm lucky to be pregnant- they don't know what I've been thru- but that does not change the fact that I feel gross and weird all day every day. Everyone's journey is different, and we should all be able to speak openly without being judged.

  • Oh I thought of a couple more things that tick me off LOL

    - people who post a million and a half music videos on FB a day, that's annoying cut it out

    - my teenage cousin's FB status updates, they are mostly her complaining about stupid *** like "I didn't take the SAT's and now the stupid college is making me take a placement test wtf" you are dumb. Orr the lovely one that made me delete her from my friends list because I couldn't stand it anymore, went something like "we don't show adults respect because they don't respect us, blah blah blah, something something, you raised us like this" OMG I'm gonna smack you if your mother doesn't!

    - and lastly, people who pull into gas stations/convenience stores leave their car running with kids inside and go inside for something.. really?? don't do that!  Maybe I hate that because a few months ago on the local news someone stole a car that way, with kids in it..

  • Here's mine.  When I get up in the middle of the night to pee, I don't flush and I don't wash my hands.  I just pee, wipe (with a ton of TP), and go back to bed.  If I don't touch the flusher (which I see as the most filthy thing in the entire house) I don't feel terrible about not washing my hands.  And if I don't wash my hands I fall back to sleep faster.  Plus, when I get up the first thing I do is go pee again, and wash my hands, so...

    That's all I've got today.

  • My MIL is absolutely driving me crazy. She's very sweet, but I think she's waaaay too involved in our lives.  Our house is about 10 minutes away from theirs, so i drop the dog off at their house every day so he can be with people and not just locked up in the house all day.  However, this means they see me EVERY DAY and she asks me incessant questions EVERY DAY. "How are you feeling?" "Oh, you went out for dinner last night? Where'd you go? Who'd you go with? What'd you eat?" etc. I feel like she wants to know everything about my life, and my family is SO not like that.

And now I feel like I'm having "OUR" family baby instead of DH's and my baby.  She keeps telling me how excited the extended family is about the baby....I say, great, but it's OUR baby. I don't want you involved in every part of our lives! I'm so glad to have them nearby because they are so close to my husband, but I also need my space and my privacy!

There is a reason why I don't visit the 1st tri board anymore. It seems like half the people on there are 19 at most, based soley on how they talk. Seriously, at 26 they're saying you're so young? They must be trying to make themselves feel younger.

Excellent point- those who are underweight to begin with, do what you got to do! Didn't mean to infer that if it's medically necessary, it shouldn't be done!Smile
