Laying on left side...miserable

Does anyone feel strange when you lay on your left side as everyone claims is best? I usually just sleep on my back now but can't help but notice my heart beats WEIRD and fast when I lay on my left. I wind up feeling miserable and cannot figure it out.

  • I get the same thing.  Your heart beats fast and weird and youre kinda out of breath.  I end up switching between my left and right side throughout the night.  I havent found a comfortable way to sleep yet and I have 6 weeks left.

  • yup, that exact thing happens to me too! I'm more comfortable on my right side.
  • I've read that you don't need to stress about the sleeping-on-the left-side-only thing so much.  The risk of back sleeping is restricting blood flow.  Way before anything is harmed, your toes will get tingly and you will feel uncomfortable, forcing your body to reposition, even in your sleep.  Your body self-corrects.  The problem with belly sleeping is squishing baby and being uncomfortable.  Your body does not like this an d self-corrects.  The problem with sleeping on your right is that a little pressure remains on something that I can't remember.  If your body doesn't like it, it will self-correct.  No problem with sleeping on your left, unless it is just not comfortable for you, in which case... your body will self-correct. I find that regardless of how I sleep, I need to shift often.  It seems unavoidable.  I've found that forgetting about the sleep position "rules" helps me out more than remembering and trying to follow them.

In any case, I hope you find a good solution.  Have you tried pillows behind you and/or one between the knees?  I have a body pillow that I can sometimes tuck just right and be comfy.

This exactly! I haven't been too concerned about sleep positions, but this creeps me out! I've only noticed it the past two weeks maybe? Still, I've been sleeping on my right mostly, ever since. I can't wait to sleep on my stomach! Miss that sooooo badly! *sniffle*
