::Shannon::

How is your big move going? I don't know if you've posted anything and I just missed it here or on FB. How are you feeling/doing? I hope it wasn't too rough on you & Caroline!

Re: ::Shannon::

  • Sorry this is so long....there is just so much!

    We're still in the middle of it and it's been hellish.  Last Wednesday Jeremy drove one of our cars out packed with some of our stuff.  He stayed until Friday looking for a house for us to rent and flew back on Christmas Eve.  Thursday the moving company came and packed up most of our stuff except for the things we were going to need for the next few days.  Those three days DH was gone were super hectic!  Caroline woke up at 4:30 a.m. throwing up on the day the packers came.  So I had to deal with that as well as supervise the packers and go to an ultrasound (and bring her since she was too sick to go to a friend's house.)

    Christmas came and went fairly uneventfully.  It snowed in Atlanta on Christmas and the ILs were supposed to drive down from Chattanooga for presents and dinner but postponed until Sunday because the ice was bad through the mountains.  DH started feeling nauseous and sick Sunday night - we think it was what Caroline had.

    On Monday, DH left super early (I got to drive him to the train station) to catch a flight back to Austin for his first day on the job.  The movers came (late) to load our stuff on the truck, I had a doctor's visit, and the car transport company came to pick up the other car.  The movers finally finished around 4 Monday afternoon, my mom and I finished cleaning up the house and then drove down to stay in a hotel near the airport for our flight on Tuesday.

    Tuesday morning we got up early and my mom was sick.  She was supposed to hold Caroline on the flight because it's tough for me with my big belly but she was too weak and nauseous to do it so I had to hold Caroline the entire time.  She fought me almost the entire time and then fell asleep when we started to descend.

    Since we got here on Tuesday it's just been a total PITA.  We're staying in a Residence Inn near DH's office.  We all have to get up early because I have to take him to work since we're still waiting on his car to be delivered.  I feel like I'm running around all over the place.  Caroline is into everything in the hotel room.  She has only been napping when we're in the car which means I'm not getting any sort of nap, which I desperately need right now.

    We signed the lease today, hopefully our stuff will be delivered tomorrow or Saturday.

    I'm just so thankful the baby hasn't made an early appearance.  I had this huge fear that she would want to get the hell out my ute because of all the stress going on.  I don't blame her.  lol  Even though I am super uncomfortable right now, I hope she can hang on a few more weeks.

    So sorry for this lengthy response.  A nice frosty round of margaritas and chips and salsa for everyone!  (Ever since I landed here I've been craving margaritas and chips/salsa!)

  • Dear god, Shan, this sounds awful!  I hope things are getting better .  I honestly can't imgaine dealing with a toddler, on the verge of giving birth and moving all at the same time.  Please, please, please call me if I can possibly do anything while a couple of thousand miles away.

  • Good grief! I'm so sorry, this sounds like it's been really rough on you... understandably. I really hope you guys can at least get settled into your new place for a while before the baby comes! Good luck & ((HUGS)) You're a far better woman than I. Smile

    Is your mom still with you? Is there anyone in Austin who can give you a break for just a few hours even?

  • My mom is still in Austin, but she's been spending time with my brother and his kids.  She doesn't get to see them very often.  Plus, she is still recovering from whatever she had and I didn't want her around Caroline too much and I don't think she was up to is anyways.

    The movers are supposed to be delivering our stuff tomorrow so my mom is going to watch Caroline during that so DH and I can supervise the movers and hopefully get some of the unpacking done.

    I seriously am looking forward to labor.  It will definitely be easier (hopefully) than the last couple of weeks have been!
