Using pack and play as a bassinet

I purchased a graco pack and play when my daughter was about 4 months old so I never used the bassinet feature. I'm pregnant with my second child now and was wondering if anyone had used their pack and play as a bassinet. To me it seems so large.

Thats what my MIL keeps telling me I should do. Because she said that I will only get so much use out of a bassinet...Im not completely convinced though. I feel like it'll be too big to put next to our bed without getting in the way.

We used the basinette on the pack and play for about 6-8 weeks while our daughter slept in our room.   Worked great

We used it for 5 mo. With our first. No problems worked well. We plan to use it for #2 also.

My SIL did, but they had plenty of room in their bedroom. Space would be the only issue. My master is tiny, so it wouldn't work for me.

We had a PNP set up with the bassinet AND an actual bassinet...we used the PNP 99% of the time! And we probably will again.

DS slept in our room and we used the bassinet attachment until he reached the weight limit.

We did for DS and plan on using it again in our room....if we can figure out where to put it now that we got bigger furniture!

We used the bassinet feature with DD for 6 weeks while I healed from my c/s because I wasn't able to lean over her crib.  After I was healed, DD went into her crib (the PNP was set up in her room during the time that we used it).

We used ours for my son until he was about 6 months old. It worked great. Planning on using it for baby number 2 aswell!

My good friend told me that she used her pack and play as a bassinet because I asked if she used a cradle for anything.  I was thinking it would be nice the first several weeks to have the baby in our room since I'll be nursing.  She said it worked great and then even better after you stop using the bassinet feature, it's nice to use when the baby starts crawling around everywhere.

We are registered for the Graco Travel Lite Crib.  It is a bassinet that changes into a pack-n-play but is about 20% smaller than the norm.  I wanted something that we could take to our parents' cabin without taking up too much space in the room.

This exactly.  This time around we'll use it for longer, though, since DD and baby will be sharing a room once baby leaves our room.
