We need to make a decision in the next few days as to which crib and mattress we are going to use (my in-law's are buying and are ready to purchase now - ie they will get something they decide on if we don't tell them exactly which one we want soon!) I've looked in Baby Bargins and done some on-line research, but you ladies always seem to give better reviews.
We are thinking the Graco Lauren crib - does anyone here have/use it? I'm thinking I remember hearing talk about it, but can't remember if it was good or bad. Anyone have a fab rave (or complaint) about the crib they bought/use??
Mattresses - tell me what you use (foam/coil) and if you like it. I am inclined to go as organic/natural as possible, but I don't know if it will be in the budget.
Thanks!
Re: Tell me about your crib
We had it, and returned it due to the recall.
We bought https://www.summerinfant.com/Products/Collections/Carters/Child-of-Mine/Carter-s®-Child-of-Mine-Sleep-Tight-4-in-1-Convert.aspx
Sorry, I don't know how to make it clicky.
The Lauren was okay, but just wasn't "heavy" to me...the Carters crib that we bought is SOLID and gives the appearance of a much much bigger crib. Also, the Lauren didn't come with the hardware/pieces to make it convertible (you had to buy seperate) however the carters crib did.
We are so very happy with the Carter's crib, so much more than the Lauren. It's also a crib that is simply beautiful and elegant and we will definitely use for kiddo number two, whereas the Lauren didn't feel like a crib that would last that long.
Our crib is from Penney's. It's similar to this one and is convertible. We are currently using it as a toddler bed.

Our mattress is a foam mattress. I have no idea what kind it is but she seems to love it.
We have the munire morgan. We liked how it wasn't so big--some of the convertible ones take up a lot of space. We didn't want the full bed option as several of my friends have had "beavers" who chew on their rails and have ruined their crib. Plus, we have 2 extra beds already and are hoping to avoid having to buy a 2nd crib if we have a 2nd child. We did buy the toddler rail though.
On the recs of the decor 4 kids owner who worked for a crib manufacturer for years before starting his own business, we went with a colgate spring one (also rec'd in baby bargains). He said spring is better if you are planning on having more than 1 kid use it.
Tyson has the Tribeca crib from JCPenney, but made by Bedford Baby. It's been a great crib for Tyson and he'll stay in it. He's not ready to be out of his crib at this point.
We haven't done much shopping for a crib for baby #2, but I know I don't need a convertible crib for this baby, although conversion to a toddler bed would be nice. We already have a headboard that will go with the rest of this baby's furniture (it belonged to DH's grandparents).
We have the Baby Appleseed Davenport collection and LOVE it. It's incredibly sturdy and I love the looks of the full size bed it converts to.
I wanted to let you know that I think I read (on the nursey & gear) board that the Graco Lauren crib is on clearance at some target stores right now.
