** Adri77**

I do not know if we have had this conversation before , but I live in Reading, too. Where do you live?

Re: ** Adri77**

  • Hmmm, i don't remember either!  I grew up in Womelsdorf (have you ever hear of it?) and now I live in Collegeville.  Are you originally from Reading?

  • I know where Womelsdorf is.. Christmas Barn :) Is that Conrad Weiser country?

I am not originally from Reading (originally from Lansdale/North Wales area) but we moved here because it was more affordable to live. But, both my husband and I got laid off in '09 and have not found work.

I actually just applied for a teaching job in Collegeville.

We live off of Fairview on Neversink Mountain. I love our house, but the neighborhood is questionable (we are a block between Reading and Mt Penn).

  • I'm so sorry you are both laid off and looking for work.  How scary.  Hope you get that teaching job, which school?  I'm not sure exactly where you live but yeah, reading has some very seedy areas, but is sooo much more affordable!  I'd love to move back to that area, but DH works in Philly and his commute is already so long.  and YES, Womelsdorf is Christmas Barn/Conrad Weiser country!  you are now part of an elite group that is familiar with Womelsdorf!!!

  • LOL! I have a friend that lives in Philly who grew up in Muhlenburg.

When we first moved here, I was commuting to Philly for the first 3 years. I certainly do not miss the commute, but left a great job... only for one I didn't like that laid me off. But, something better will come about.

We live on the "other" mountain and I can see the Pagoda from my bedroom window or out on the driveway. So, when they have fireworks, we just stay in bed.

My block -- right now-- is pretty good.. but just a year ago, it was really seedy. The District judge lives across the street, so that helps. But, still, it is not a day in Reading without seeing or hearing sirens.

We might have to schedule a play date sometime! Do you still come up this way?

  • Yeah, sounds like your neighborhood is pretty good!  I don't get back to Berks too often.....mostly holidays and some random weekends in b/w but we would be close enough to schedule a playdate half way or something!  Does your daughter go to school or anything?  My boys are in tues/thurs 9-11:30
