Pregnant after a Loss

Former PTLers

What are your doctors doing to prevent preterm labor this time around?

My doc is checking my cervix for effacing and starting progesterone shots at 16 weeks. Anyone else? Anyone know how the shots are later in pregnancy? I had them early on (for IVF) last time, but I'm wondering if they're different in the second and third tri.

Anyway, I'm shaking in my boots that in 4 weeks I'll already be effacing or something. No more PTL!

Re: Former PTLers

  • Same thing; cervical length checks (with every u/s starting at 8 weeks, biweekly) and 17p starting at 16 weeks.  The shots aren't terrible, my DH gives them to me.

  • My history

DD was a twin. We lost her twin at 9 weeks. We have no idea why I went into PTL at 31 weeks. I was 80 % effaced and 2 cm at 31.5 weeks. I had DD at 34 3 weeks.

pregnant with twins again in April this year. Lost them at 9 weeks. Both sets of twins were spontanous.

I started 17P shots at 16 week. It's cake. My DH will be giving me them this coming Monday. I will be getting them 1x a week till 35 weeks(last shot).

Also cervical checks start on the 10th which I'll be 19 weeks then 24,28 and so on. I think they will be doing growth scans also on LO.

ETA: I am also doing a glucose test at 19 weeks. The Progesterone can mess with your sugar.
