Babies on the Brain

Beta results from Monday

First off, I never intended to have blood drawn for hCG on Monday (9 dpo). I went for my routine progesterone draw that I was supposed to have done on Christmas, but couldn't obviously. So, later that afternoon I took a test and it was positive. The next day, (10 dpo) I called and let them know I got a positive test and asked when I should come in for betas. They called the lab and had my 9 dpo blood tested for hCG along with the progesterone.

I got the hCG today. It was 9. :(

I know I am very early and 9 dpo is early even for a blood test, as implantation probably only occurred a couple days before that. But now I am worried sick. I go back tomorrow for another blood draw, and will get those results on Friday. I just hate this waiting game and I have lost all confidence that I sort-of had the last few days.

I know.... be calm, try not to stress, all that jazz. It's just so hard. So, so hard. Sometimes I wish I could just be a naive pregnant person.

  • I do hope it was very early and that you have a nice high result for the next one.

    FWIW, I saw somewhere that at 5 weeks you can be anywhere from 18-7000 or some crazy spread so as long as your numbers are increasing then you are good.

    ::fingers crossed::

    Dee is right, so don't lose hope, yet!

  • Try not to get too discouraged.  My first beta level was 7, was 9dpo and did not have +HPT,  I had injured my shoulder at work and they handed me a script for narcotics and I told them I was TTC and it was too early for a HPT.  So they took a blood sample and called me later that day and told me not to take the meds.  I'm keeping everything crossed for you.

  • Thank you all for your encouraging words. Like I said, the reasonable me knows how early it was and was expecting a low number (I even had 10 in my head) but somehow hearing it was rough. The dr. said some interpret anything over 5 as positive and some anything over 10, so the "results were not definitive." It's just feeling more and more like past pregnancies/blood work and it's so worrisome. I have been doing my best all day not to think about it, but when I got the call it started Worry-Fest 2010.

  • I had mine drawn at 10dpo and they were an 8. That was 2 days after my bfp! Jack was the result of that. Don't worry just yet.
  • I've had a really rough day, but this makes me hopful and smile.  I hope you are just super early and the numbers go up more.

    Isn't anything higher than 5 considered positve?
