Im going in for an HSG next week!
Can anyone tell me what to expect?
How long does it take?
Can they tell you if your tubes are open right away?
Does it hurt?
How long was the dye leaking out of you?
Anything else I should know? Any info would be great
Thanks !!!?
Re: Anyone have an HSG done?
I did November of 09. Ummm it took me about 30 min. They usually aren't allowed to tell you anything b/c they are not your doctor's just lab technicians. It hurt me a little (nothing IB Profin didn't fix), and I was glad I scheduled off work the next day Just cramping. But, also, that's how they found out I had my UU. The dye is clear. I left a pad on throughout the rest of the day (I got mine late in the afternoon).
A friend of ours was having trouble TTC, and she had this done. It cleared her tubes and she was pg the very next cycle. This does happen.
However, I hate to be negative nancy on this, but also prepare yourself for a chance of them finding something. I didn't, and was devestated when I got the call the very next day. I just thought I would be like our friend and get pg. INstead, I got a big nasty surgery out of it. But, with that, I was so so thankful that they FINALLY found out what my issue was and could now set up a plan to actively treat my problem and we weren't in the dark anymore. GL and just try to relax. Do not go borrowing trouble when it's not needed.

It's a deformity I was born with. It's called a unicornuate uterus. Bicornuate is more widely known. Essentially I have only 1/2 a uterus where if/when I get pg I will only have 1/2 a uterus to hold the baby in. When I had my surgery, he wanted to clean out my tubes and break down any possible barriers I had in the right side of my uterus (which is where instead of a sack I have a tube). He found that I had had a m/c a year before and had to clean out the rest of the baby that my body couldn't. It's not impossible for me to have children. Unfortunately, it's a very rare condition, but unlike most women with it I have 2 working fallopian tubes so I have a great chance to get pg. Which brings a greater chance for m/c (most women who have this have up to 20+, but some have even had healthy twins!!). We just have to make sure the baby goes to the left side of my uterus. So, I'll be under observation immeadiately, bedrest at 5mos. and won't carry past 7 mos.

Anytime girl, and don't take my experience to heart. Like I told you, my condition is really rare. Just look at it as an oppurtunity to find out what the heck is going on! lol
