I'm agonizing over my decision to cycle at Cornell vs. CCRM since I had a consult at CCRM. It's not in the cards for the immediate future b/c I have frosties at Cornell that we'd like to transfer first, and DH would have to get on board w/ CCRM. But still it's something I'm keeping in the back of my mind.
Cornell and CCRM are often considered the top two clinics in the country but yet CCRM's success rates are WAAAY higher (like 20%). I'm trying to not take that at face value b/c I know stats can be manipulated and am wondering what else could possibly be at play here.
I know both clinics take very difficult cases, but I have read that CCRM is more likely to push donor eggs and deny patients from cycling w/ their own eggs. Maybe that's a reason? I did notice that in the 2008 SART data, Cornell had ~150 DE cycles and about ~650 fresh cycles (so ~19% DE) while CCRM had ~150 DE cycles and about ~250 fresh cycles (so ~37% DE). Hmm.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or know anything about it?

Re: Success Rates At Cornell Vs. CCRM
Personally, I hope your FET works and that the end of that.
But there is a lot more weighing in than just success rates, mainly, is the trouble to travel for a cycle worth the difference?
Is the overall approach in line with your tastes? I was reading a blog where the woman had a very bad experience with CCRM and has her successful cycle at another clinic in the area. Just saying that not every clinic meets every patient's needs, SR or not.
DE results/stats should be separate from stats with the patient's eggs.
Have you had a consult with CCRM?
That's all I can come up with. I've been looking at medical records and forms all day. Boo.
Good points.
The DE stats and OE stats are different, but I'm just saying that out of the total # of cycles done at both clincs per year, a much larger number proportionately was done w/ DE at CCRM - i.e. Cornell did about 3x as many cycles in all, but about the same # of DE cycles. It makes me you wonder if they're pushing DEs at CCRM and thus upping the OE success rates b/c those people were easier cases. KWIM?
I did have a consult w/ CCRM. They were big on CGH on day 5 and then an FET - Cornell only does PGD and is not a fan of it. That would be the big draw for me.

I know some women at CCRM have been pushed toward DE - especially those who are 40+ from what I've been able to tell on the message boards. In our case, after our abysmal first cycle, our RE at CCRM didn't really try to sell us on either DE or cycling with my OE again. She just layed out the stats and what our options were.
I agree with you that CGH is a big draw to CCRM - I have seen some really amazing things with that, and it would give you so much more information. I'm not sure if you've already checked it out, but there is a Colorado board on www.ivfconnections.com where most of the posters are CCRM patients. There's a lot of discussion on there about CGH, etc. that might be helpful for you in making your decision.

I cycled at Cornell and got pregnant with my dd. I was 42 at the time and 43 when I had her. I was never pushed to DE - in fact, it was never discussed despite me being a very, very poor responder (and dh had MFI). However, I was told that the only reason that the doctor agreed to see me at all was because I had a prior successful IVF (with my son- I went to a private doctor). So even before I walked in the door or they knew anything about me, they were worried about stats. It left me with a bad taste from the start. I really wouldn't put much stock in the stats. They do manipulate them so much. I hope you don't have to go any further than your FET. Good luck!
